Το Εθνικό Κέντρο Τεκμηρίωσης (ΕΚΤ) διοργανώνει στην Αθήνα (16-18
Οκτωβρίου 2013) το Διεθνές Συνέδριο "Ανοικτή Πρόσβαση @ ΕΚΤ -
Αναπτύσσοντας κοινές ευρωπαϊκές πολιτικές για την καινοτόμο χρήση ης
δημόσιας και επιστημονικής πληροφορίας", το τρίτο κατά σειρά ενός κύκλου
διεθνών συνεδρίων με αντικείμενο την Ανοικτή Πρόσβαση στην επιστημονική
γνώση.

Η φετινή διοργάνωση εστιάζει στις σημαντικές εξελίξεις που έχουν
συντελεστεί στην Ευρώπη τα τελευταία δύο χρόνια για την προώθηση της
ανοικτής πρόσβασης στη δημόσια χρηματοδοτούμενη έρευνα και το άνοιγμα
των δημοσίων δεδομένων. Οι εξελίξεις αυτές υποστηρίζονται από πολιτικές
της Ευρωπαϊκής Ένωσης όπως το «Ψηφιακό Θεματολόγιο 2020», η «Κοινοτική
Οδηγία για την Περαιτέρω Χρήση της Δημόσιας Πληροφορίας» και η «Σύσταση
της Επιτροπής για την Πρόσβαση στην Επιστημονική Πληροφορία και τη
Διαφύλαξή της».

Η ενίσχυση του διαμοιρασμού και της απρόσκοπτης επάναχρησης των
αποτελεσμάτων της δημόσια χρηματοδοτούμενης έρευνας και των δημόσιων
δεδομένων αναμένεται να συντελέσει καταλυτικά στην αντιμετώπιση των
μεγάλων περιβαλλοντικών, ενεργειακών και κοινωνικών προκλήσεων της
εποχής μας, να αποφέρει σημαντικά οικονομικά οφέλη στα κράτη μέλη και να
συμβάλει στην καινοτομία.

Το συνέδριο αποτελεί σημείο συνάντησης για ειδικούς σε θέματα Ανοικτής
Πρόσβασης, για εκπροσώπους φορέων που δραστηριοποιούνται στη χάραξη
πολιτικών έρευνας, για ερευνητές, για φοιτητές, καθώς και για όσους
ενδιαφέρονται να ενημερωθούν για τις τρέχουσες εξελίξεις σχετικά με την
Ανοικτή Πρόσβαση σε Ελλάδα και Ευρώπη. Το συνέδριο χωρίζεται σε δύο
θεματικές ενότητες, η πρώτη αφορά την Ανοικτή Πρόσβαση στην Ελλάδα και η
δεύτερη είναι το τελικό συνέδριο του ευρωπαϊκού έργου MedOANet.

5th International Conference on Information Law in Corfu

 The 5th International Conference on Information Law is co-organized by the Department of Archive & Library Sciences of the Ionian University, the Department of Audio & Visual Arts of the Ionian University and the International Society for Ethics and Technology (INSEIT) (US). It will take place in Corfu, on June 29-30, 2012

The Conference aims at the presentation of papers on a variety of subjects within information law and also, information ethics. The conference will host invited presentations and refereed paper presentations.

Euromed 2012 - International Conference on Cultural Heritage and Digital Libraries

EuroMed 2012 will be held at the Amathus-Hotel, Limassol, Cyprus (29th Oct-3rd Nov) and provides an opportunity to exchange research results, opinions, experiences and proposals on the best practice and hi-tech tools from Information and Communications Technology to document, preserve, manage and communicate Cultural Heritage (CH).

The International Conference on Cultural Heritage (CH) brings together researchers, policy makers, professionals and practitioners to explore some of the more pressing issues concerning cultural heritage today. In particular, the main goal of the conference is to focus on interdisciplinary and multi-disciplinary research on tangible and intangible Cultural Heritage, the use of cutting edge technologies for the protection, restoration, preservation, massive digitalization, documentation and presentation of the CH content. At the same time, the event is intended to cover topics of research ready for exploitation, demonstrating the acceptability of new sustainable approaches and new technologies by the user community, SME’s, owners, managers and conservators of cultural patrimony.

Submissions for papers are invited from the CH sector - deadline 28th May 2012.

There are two main categories, each conatining several themes:
1. Protection, Restoration, and Preservation of Tangible and Intangible CH
2. Digital CH

International Conference on Theory and Practise of Digital Libraries (TPDL 2012)

The International Conference on Theory and Practise of Digital Libraries (TPDL 2012) will be organized in Cyprus on 23-27 September 2012.

The International Conference on Theory and Practice of Digital Libraries is the successor of the European Conference on Research and Advanced Technology for Digital Libraries (ECDL). TPDL/ECDL has been the leading European scientific forum on digital libraries for 15 years. The conference continues to bring together researchers, developers, content providers and users in the field of digital libraries. TPDL 2012 is organised by the Cyprus University of Technology (CUT) in collaboration with the University of Cyprus and the City University London. It will take place in Pafos, Cyprus on 23-27 September 2012.

Over the last years, Digital Libraries have taken over a central role in our society. As the volume of digital material grows, and its use becomes more ubiquitous, the challenge of combining our digital futures and digital past becomes more important. Innovative methods, collaborative working and new forms of content challenge established digital library methods. Similarly, the need for increasingly sophisticated means for supporting the analysis of digital content by humanists and scientists, practitioners and academics, leads to new difficulties for the infrastructure and interface of information repositories.
